Primary mess in MI.

Let me clear it up for you, using news clips.

Michigan wanted to move its primary up, which I was all for. By the time the last primary came to MI, everyone (not me) was voting for Kerry. Thanks for nothing IA, NH, and Howard Dean.

Four Democratic candidates — Joe Biden, John Edwards, Barack Obama and Bill Richardson — had requested their names be removed from the Michigan ballot because the primary’s early date violated national party rules. -freep.com

The Detroit News, generally the more conservative paper of Detroit decided to care your grandfather with this lead:

Michigan Democrats voted Tuesday to participate in the state’s Jan. 15 presidential primary, finalizing a three-month battle to try to put the state in the center of the 2008 campaign and all but assuring a victory for Sen. Hillary Clinton. - detnews.com

Couldn’t this be Kuchinich’s chance too? Nah! Let’s go to court and battle the state’s primary irrelevance.

Late last week, the Michigan Supreme Court ruled that the state could hold its presidential primary January 15. - abc12.com

Alright! Hey wait a minute!

The muddled field for Michigan’s Jan. 15 presidential primary appears unlikely to include four Democrats after all, as the state Senate on Tuesday declined to act on a House measure that their names be on the ballot. - A different freep.com article.

Dissappointed as I am in this primary debacle, with Michigan and Detroit ranking among the highest in the nation for obesity (5th I think), unemployment (#1 bitch!), and with a high concentration of black/female/union voters, there is no doubt that MI will get a lot of General Election love.

Although if Oakland and Macomb county could please switch back to red and blue respectively — you kind of freaked me out in 2004.
