A day of record shopping.

After a bite and cocktail at The Red Derby, Shannon and I set off to the DC Record Fair. The last time we went to an event like this was back in 2001, when we made a road trip from Detroit to Cleveland to visit the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame, which was hosting a massive record show.

Blame it on the nicer weather, small floor space of the Black Cat, music nazi’s throwing ‘bows, and garage sale selection of LP’s, but the fair kind of sucked. There were too many people and not enough space to get your eyeballs on the product available. When you did cut through, the selection was lame. We went to the fair prepared to drop some big cash, but we left with only a handful of kitschy soundtracks and a Guns n’ Roses single.

To make up for the disappointment, we did a world tour of Northwest DC’s record shops. We walked from the Black Cat to Dupont up through Adams Morgan hitting four different shops and dropping plenty of cash along the way. Found some killer looking Misfits bootlegs, a White Stripes single, a reissue of Rock n’ Roll High School soundtrack, and a few fun records. Now its time to listen to them and our back catalog.
