Just finished the first episode of HBO’s Generation Kill and surprise, it was an amazing piece of television.
All of the usual dramatization-of-war characters make an appearance. The dip-shit CO, the fast talking jokester, the racist hillbilly, the one who thinks everyone is a “fag”, and etc, etc, etc.
The show does an fantastic job of sharing the tension these Marines have, waiting for their orders, waiting for the opportunity to go to war. I’m looking forward to the next episode.
I wish someone could be held accountable for the Iraq War. We’ve shifted accountability to the presidential candidates, charging them with the responsibility to make things right. Its not just.
