Actual thought in this one. Side one is a little moodier than side 2, which is still moody, but more up-tempo. I have a ton of soundtrack music I love, so I’ll switch these out at some point. Enjoy!
Side 1
1. Smashing Pumpkins - The Beginning is the End is the Beginning
The original version is your typical 90’s rock stuff, but I find this one far superior. Both versions are on the Batman and Robin soundtrack, and this version is in the Watchmen trailer.
2. Orbital - Halycon + On + On
On the Mortal Kombat and Hackers soundtracks.
3. Explosions in the Sky - Your Hand in Mine
From the Friday Night Lights movie and I believe, television series too.
4. Peace Orchestra - Who am I
It was the theme to one of the Animatrix shorts as well as in Memento.
5. The Dust Brothers - What is Fight Club
A small bit of the amazing score to Fight Club.
6. Clint Mansell - Lux Aeterna
It was in Requiem for a Dream, but you may recognize an-over-the-top orchestral version that played alongside some of the LOTR trailers.
Side 2
7. Hans Zimmer & James Newton Howard - Corynorhius
The Batman Begins soundtrack is phenomenal.
8. B.R.M.C - Shuffle Your Feet
HBO is playing the hell out of this promoting Generation Kill. It still counts right?
9. M.I.A. - Paper Planes
Another cheat! Its been in all of the Pineapple Express television spots. We all agree Pineapple Express doesn’t look funny right?
10. Kupek - Born Slippy
Born Slippy was originally done by Underworld and appeared on the Trainspotting soundtrack. This is an acoustic version that I’ve discovered and fell in love with.
11. Elvis Costello - Pump it Up
I’m sure this song has been everywhere, but I remember it from Jeremy Piven’s tour-de-force in P.C.U.
12. John Murphy - Zorba the Greek
From Guy Ritchie’s Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. Which, by the way, isn’t nearly as much fun to watch as I remembered it.
