While we marvel at these pictures of a once amazing city, I think we need to remember that people still live there. In the city, around the city, millions of people that feel powerless as their city falls apart, further, in front of them. They hate themselves and each other. The whites, the blacks, the rich, the poor, the people who stayed and the people who left— its all their fault. We use so much strength hating and blaming, that no one has had any strength left to rebuild the city.
And that’s why it has failed.
