Michigan is in its eighth year of a ransacked economy that has lost 322,000 manufacturing jobs in this time. The state’s unemployment rate is 8.9 percent, the highest in the nation. The Pew Charitable Trust is predicting that one of every 36 homes in Michigan will fall under foreclosure by next year.
Fantastic write-up of a few Oakland County residents living in our new economy. It also happens to be one of the saddest things I’ve read.
McCain recently ended his campaign in Michigan. So I guess if things are too tough, we should merely ignore the problems? How presidential of you, Walnuts.

Not sure how this got leaked to YouTube almost three hours before the broadcast, but here’s Letterman ripping into McCain for canceling an appearance on his show tonight. The best part comes at about the seven minute mark when Dave gets wind of the fact that McCain is actually down the street being interviewed by Katie Couric and they cut in live as McCain is having his makeup done.
Uh oh. Rule #1 - don’t piss a guy off with a microphone and a TV show.
