Twitter is updating again.
In other news, I can’t stand these hyper-realized people that tech companies put into their commericals. These white, well-to-do, super-active, super-interesting, weirdos that spend their online time comforting one another or talking about their incredible interests and hobbies.
I want the commercial for the person that watches Housewives reality series and snarks constantly in twitter with profane language and poor grammar.
I want the people tweeting and retweeting what trending topic has “n***a* in the title.
I want someone other than some thin white guy talking to pretty white girls about their pretty fucking lives.
When is twitter going to fix this? When are we going to get that “historical” archive of all tweets and tweets that branched out from tweets and “@” reply conversations? Ever press a twitter button with a tweet count next to it, and when the page pulls up, there are no where near the amount of tweets that were shown on the number?
It’s annoying and I wish we’d all give twitter more flack for it. I feel like ever since they moved beyond the fail whale, they’ve gotten a free pass.
Oh, and I wish they would secretly cutoff Klout’s API access.
Hands-On: Twitter's New Photo-Sharing Service
I wonder if Tumblr is worried about this at all? When Tumblr launched, many people spotlighted that it was “micro-blogging” mixed with media.
Twitter Emails
Twitter has launched email notifications for retweets and “@” replies. This is a good thing. I’m sure some people are annoyed that Twitter automatically opt-d them in for the notifications, but all in all this is a positive new piece of functionality.
My question is, how did Twitter NOT have this before? How are we just now getting this piece of functionality when every other social network on the planet has had to have it at launch or soon after?
Sometimes it’s really hard to believe how popular Twitter is, especially given all of it’s early stumbles and it’s shortcomings.
Twitter really sucks sometimes.
It seems in 2011 and the era of Facebook and Twitter we’ve completely lost any care for open standards. Maybe it’s not just RSS that is dying - it’s the entire premise of open standards that is dying, and I think that’s really sad, and really bad for not just developers, but users in general.
Sometimes I get tweets that aren’t really meant for me.
Or are they…
Meet the new Twitter.com
Like.
I’m getting more love on Twitter these days than Tumblr.
What social network site will feed my precious ego next? I’m looking at you Foursquare!
That said, I have no idea who this person is or why I’m so awesome.
My tweetstats
Interesting to see just how much I used to use the simple txt-ing method for sending tweets. I’ve given up on Destroy Twitter.
If I’m at a computer, I use Brizzly or Twitter.com. On the go its Tweed.
I'm kind of a big deal
Peep my social media skills!
I recently helped SmallAct hold a webinar on using THE POWER OF SOCIAL MEDIA and keyword searches to help find your hidden evangelists.
Its the most minimalist Powerpoint presentation I’ve ever done and I (ashamedly) didn’t rehearse before we went live, but I’ve been told that I was “good” and “not bad” and that the overall presentation, “will do just fine,” and is a “great example of the good information [SmallAct] clients need, presented in an effective way.”
Twitter’s greatest use is its ability to aggregate the moment, but it also has a hidden ability for folks looking for a very specific person. With the right combination of keywords and time, precious, precious time, you can find the people that might be fighting your cause that you don’t even know about. Find them, follow them, vibe off one another, and soon you’ll be changing the world (or will have made a great addition to your community).
Feedback is appreciated. I like speaking and teaching but I’m not very good, so if you listen let me know and feed my ego let me know what you think.

What if Twitter… came to life?
We asked some of our friends to film their favorite tweets. We didn’t care how they did it. They could read it. They could act it. They could do it with puppets. Whatever they wanted. The only rules were it had to be a tweet written by someone else and it had to contain the entire tweet and nothing but the tweet.
This is what they gave us.
We hope you enjoy it.
Magic.

flocking.me - search tweets from just your friends
I tested this out. If it were to combine with Facebook and other social networks, plus had a away to tweet about your search query (ie: what movie should I see), I think it has tremendous potential.

I particpated, but I was trying to poo-poo on the party.
#ifsantawasblack He would bring presents to kids across the world. Well, depending if they were naughty or if they were nice.
If Santa Was Black… today’s number one Trending Topic.
WE ARE TREADING ON DANGEROUS GROUND HERE, PEOPLE. Usually this kind of thing is reserved for some tacky email forward between the black employees of an office and their sisters, cousins and church members, of course, because church people love a damn FORWARD. We can’t let the Whites see our jokes y’all!
But for reals, some of them are pretty funny. And some, not surprisingly, are racist.
